Hello Families,
Here we are at the end of the month. As you have probably heard we have had lots of fun with bugs this month. The kids have enjoyed sharing their own knowledge and learning new knowledge about bugs. We will finish up our bug unit either this week or the first week back from break and then we will start a new science unit on plants. We continue to work on our letters, sounds, counting and numbers. The 4's will finish up our ABC books with W,X, Y, and Z. The 3's will continue to work on our ABC books with P, B, R, and K. Look for another blog soon to inform you of all of April's happenings.
Wishing you all a safe and happy spring break.

March News
It has been awhile since I have made a post. March will be a busy month for us. We start our first week off with conferences on March 3rd and 4th. Remember there is no school those days. We will begin our Flat Stanley project this month, so I will be sending out information on who Stanley is and what you and your kids will be doing with him. On March 16th and 17th we have donuts with dad. Dads come and enjoy a donut with your child and see what your child has made for you. Also, the 16th and 17th are special pick up days. Near the end of the month we will have a pajama and pancake day and I will give you the exact date soon. Lastly, we will end our month with our Imagination Celebration. This is a day to celebrate books. So that will wrap up March and then we will head into April with Spring break. See you all at school.

What is up?
Last week we had lots of fun with gingerbread. We read about the gingerbread baby, boy and man. We counted gingerbread, made gingerbread number lines, decorated gingerbread, made gingerbread cookies, ran after our gingerbread cookies and finally ate our gingerbread.
This week 3's continue to work on letter recognition, writing their name, number recognition and counting everything we can find to count. 4's continue to work on sounds, putting words together, sequencing, and number recognition and writing our numbers.
Next week we will start a sink and float science unit.

Welcome back
Hi All,
It has been so fun this week reconnecting with the kids and hearing about their special time with family.
I just wanted to update you all on what is going on in the classroom. We continue to work on our letter formation and sounds. The 4's are working on G, S, and then on to J. The 3's are working on U, C and then O. Both classes are taking extra time to work on their own names. The 4's are working on keeping the letters in order and in a straight line. The 3's are working on being able to print each letter in their name. We are all working on perfecting our pencil grip. Since we have lots of snow on the ground, we will use it to our advantage. We will be making and dressing snowmen in winter gear and talking about what matches (or is the same) and what is different, doing some science experiments with snow and counting and adding with snowballs. If it warms up just a bit, I hope to get out and enjoy playing in the snow. Hope you are all staying warm.
Blessings,
Mary Jo

A note before Christmas break
Hi All,
I wanted to update you on what we are up to in the classroom this week. We are continuing to read the Christmas story and are enjoying learning about how the birth of Jesus came about. Today we talked about how the angels told the shepherds of the good news, then we made angels out of tortilla shells and ate them.
We will be having a Happy Birthday Jesus party on Friday. I am keeping it simple in hopes that we still keep in mind that we are celebrating the birth of our Savior. It should be a nice send off into the Christmas break.
With all the fun we continue to write, count, sort, read and play everyday. We have enjoyed our estimation jars and appreciate the effort you are making to help us be better counters. Lastly, we are studying the letter "Q" with the 4's and "I" with the 3's.
Merry Christmas everyone!
