Hi All,
I wanted to update you on what we are up to in the classroom this week. We are continuing to read the Christmas story and are enjoying learning about how the birth of Jesus came about. Today we talked about how the angels told the shepherds of the good news, then we made angels out of tortilla shells and ate them.
We will be having a Happy Birthday Jesus party on Friday. I am keeping it simple in hopes that we still keep in mind that we are celebrating the birth of our Savior. It should be a nice send off into the Christmas break.
With all the fun we continue to write, count, sort, read and play everyday. We have enjoyed our estimation jars and appreciate the effort you are making to help us be better counters. Lastly, we are studying the letter "Q" with the 4's and "I" with the 3's.
Merry Christmas everyone!

What letter are we working on.
I will try and post the letter we are working on weekly, so you can reinforce it at home. The 4 year olds are working on Cc and the 3 year olds are working on the letter Tt.
Thanksgiving Week
We will be doing a simple Thanksgiving feast next week for both classes. We will have our feast during our snack time . We will keep the menu very simple, but I will have a list up with the items we need. This week we will make some simple costumes for the kids to wear. Also, it has been so great getting our Turkeys back. Try to get them to me this week so I can display them for all to see.

Help us count!
Kids love to count and they need the practice. Next week I am going to start sending home a jar. I call it the estimation jar. Every Monday or Tuesday it will be sent home with someone and your job is to put a handful of the same item in the jar and send it back to school the next time we are together. Our job is to guess how many items are in the jar and then count them. You can be as creative as you want in what you put in the jar. The items can be edible, but may not contain nuts. Also, please put no less than 12 items, but no more than 100. I will send home a schedule with dates so you can anticipate when you will be getting the jar at your house.
Oops!
I gave you the wrong time to meet up at Hidden Acres. On Wednesday we will meet at 10:15 and Thursday we will meet at 10:45.
Harvest Field Trip and other happenings

Birthday Treats
I am doing birthday treats a little different this year. During the week of each child's birthday, we would love to celebrate. Since we are making an effort to stay away from foods that may have even a trace of nuts in them, I decided to have one standard birthday treat. So, on your child's birthday, if you can bring cupcake liners, a can of whipped cream, at least 30 vanilla wafers and possibly some blueberries or strawberries, we will create a yummy birthday treat for all. So far this has worked well. Also, if your child is a summer birthday, we will celebrate those in May.
What is going on this week
We are continuing with our Fall theme this week and focusing on the changing of the leaves.
Welcome
